The Birmingham Weekender returns for another spectacular year, spanning three exciting days across Birmingham’s city centre. This vibrant, free event brings an incredible array of art and cultural performances to the heart of the community, inviting everyone to be part of the experience.
Taking place from August 24th to 26th, 2024, performances will begin daily at 12 PM and run throughout key city locations, from the Bullring to Southside near the Hippodrome. The event is proudly produced by the Hippodrome in collaboration with Bullring & Grand Central.

Stephanie Lüning, an extraordinary artist, explores the mesmerizing world of foam in her groundbreaking work. Often dismissed as an everyday material, foam is reimagined in her hands, becoming a medium of profound artistic and metaphysical expression.
Island of Foam was showcased at St. Martin's Square in Bullring & Grand Central Birmingham. Beginning at the top of the staircase leading to Central Street, the event unfolded into a captivating experience. Families delighted in the opportunity to immerse themselves in the playful and interactive foam-filled installation.
UNITY is a reflection on community, an act of protest, a call for change and a dream for the future; a large-scale, outdoor aerial production that merges immersive theatre, circus and community stories in a powerful but intimate way. An immersive aerial spectacular combining acrobatic performances, music and poetry with a political message highlighting the underserved in society.

Dance Flashmob : Marshon Dance Company is bringing electrifying flash mobs to the city centre. Through high-energy street dance and powerful choreography, Marshon embodies community and empowerment.
Tread : An empty space, but from its centre comes the cyclic whirring of a standard-size treadmill; this is WALKER Movement Theatre Company’s vehicle for thought provocation.
